I make music and I design things. For years I kept them apart, until my projects started mixing them anyway. EC Lab is both.

The music
I moved from Denmark to the Netherlands in 2020 because the electronic music scene is bigger here. I wanted to see what I could achieve.

The design
I draw first. Getting a thought straight onto paper is the easiest way I know to see if it's any good.
Go to the design workI'm Alexander. Half Danish, half Polish, raised in both countries, and these days I live in Haarlem.
I started making music in 2019 because of Avicii and Kygo. I taught myself piano and I never learned music theory. Most of what I know comes from trial and error.
In 2020 I moved to the Netherlands to chase it. The conservatories said no, so for about four years I worked in logistics at Heineken, in sales for Air France and KLM, and on the shop floor at H&M, and made music around all of it.
I picked UX design because I wanted to keep sound in my life and learn something where knowing music is actually an advantage. Sound has been my first thought in every design since.
EC Lab is my umbrella for all of it. It's my design lab. I design sounds and I design experiences.
I'm curious by nature and I ask a lot of questions, usually at the most random moments. And if someone proves me wrong, good. That's how the work gets better.
And I'm more than those two things. I'm a bit of a cowboy. I love that lifestyle and the freedom in it: country music, special beers, fishing. And gaming.
